Friendswood Police Activity September 1 - 7, 2010

Driving While Intoxicated

      September 7 (1:38 a.m.) - Jewel Curtis, 44, of Huntsville was charged with DWI.  Curtis was observed driving erratically in the 4800 block of FM 2351.  She failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a breath test.

   September 6 (3:43 a.m.) - Austin Sauls, 22, of Friendswood was charged with DWI.  Sauls was stopped for a traffic violation in the 3000 block of FM 528.  He failed a field sobriety test and registered .167 on a breath test. 

   September 6 (12:14 a.m.) - Joseph Hebert, 19, of Texas City was charged with DWI.  Hebert was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of W. Parkwood.  He failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a breath test.

   September 5 (3:53 a.m.) - Ryan Evans, 22, of Alvin was charged with DWI.  Evans was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2500 block of W. Parkwood.  He failed a field sobriety test and registered .194 on a breath test. 

   September 4 (2:49 a.m.) - Glenn Lofstad, 29, of Friendswood was charged with DWI.  Lofstad was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1300 block of S. Friendswood Drive.  He failed a field sobriety test and registered .203 on a breath test. 

   September 3 (3:04 p.m.) - Kimberly King, 48, of Friendswood was arrested on a charge of felony Driving While Intoxicated with a child passenger under the age of 15.  Police conducted a welfare check on King on October 23, 2009.  King had pulled into the HEB parking lot, 701 W. Parkwood.  She was displaying signs of illness or intoxication and was released to an area hospital for treatment.  Blood test results indicated that King was under the influence of medications.  A warrant was obtained which resulted in the arrest.

   September 3 (2:40 a.m.) - Demetria Garcia, 28, of was charged with DWI.  Garcia was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2100 block of W. Parkwood.  She failed a field sobriety test and registered .174 on a breath test.

   September 2 (2:09 a.m.) - Stephanie Thweatt, 22, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.  Thweatt was observed driving erratically in the 1800 block of W. Parkwood.  She failed a field sobriety test and submitted a blood sample for testing.

 

Burglary

   September 7 (3:00 p.m.) - Fifty dollars was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Amegy Bank, 218 E. Parkwood.  The money was in an envelope in plain sight in the car.  The victim advised that she often leaves the windows cracked on the car.  The burglary occurred sometime over the previous week.

   September 6 (2:27 a.m.) - Christopher Keiffer, 26, of Friendswood was charged with Burglary of a Habitation.  Keiffer was discovered inside an apartment by a resident of The Enclave at Quail Crossing, 5000 Watkins Way at 7:11 p.m. the evening before.  The investigation led to the location of Keiffer at his residence.  He was found to be in possession of a money order taken during the burglary. 

   September 4 (8:17 p.m.) - A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at Friendship Haven, 1500 Sunset.  A window was shattered to gain entry.

   September 4 (10:34 a.m.) - Several bottles of liquor were stolen during a burglary overnight at Reddy's Liquor, 1507 Sun Meadow.  Forced entry was made through a rear door. 

Domestic Violence

   September 4 (10:50 a.m.) - Adam Ackles, 17, of Friendswood was charged with Violation of a Protective Order.  Ackles was at home in the 1100 block of Sunset, allegedly threatening a family member.  The protective order stipulated that Ackles was not to be at the residence.

Narcotics

   September 5 (3:51 p.m.) - Andrew C. Whittaker, 53, of Nassau Bay was charged with Possession of Marijuana.  Whittaker was known to have an outstanding Galveston County warrant and was stopped in the 200 block of W. Parkwood.  During a search, incident to arrest, Whittaker was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Miscellaneous

   September 7 (3:11 p.m.) - Road rage may have resulted in the arrest of a Katy man.  Roy James, 56, of was charged with Criminal Mischief.  James reported that a driver cut him off in traffic.  He then got in front of her car, got out and confronted her.  The female driver told police that James hit her windshield with his hand, causing it to crack. 

   September 3 (10:56 p.m.) - Tanner Rannels, 17, of League City was charged with Evading Arrest after he ran from police in the 600 block of Castlelake Drive in Annalea subdivision.  Police were investigating a parking violation when they discovered a loud party.  Investigation into the situation determined that there were underage drinkers at the party.  When police entered the backyard of the residence, Rannels ran from officers.  He later returned to the scene and was taken into custody.  Joshua Bargas, 17, was arrested for violation of the Open Party ordinance.  Several citations were issued to minors in possession of alcohol.

   September 2 (11:44 p.m.) - Ryan Garcia, 20, and Jose Vargas, 20, both of Alvin were charged with Racing on the Highway.  Officers observed the vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed in the 2000 block of W. Parkwood.  Both admitted to racing.

   September 2 (9:17 p.m.) - Karysa Kerr, 17, of Friendswood was arrested on a Credit Card Abuse warrant.  The warrant stemmed from the investigation into the theft of a purse and subsequent use of credit cards taken in an August 1 vehicle burglary. 

Fraud/Identity Theft

   September 7 - Victim reported unauthorized use of his credit union debit card information for purchases in Chicago.  The victim still had possession of his card.


   September 1 - Victim reported unauthorized use of her credit union credit card information for purchases.  The victim still had possession of her card.

Found/Recovered Property

   The following items were found and turned over to police last week:
