LA MARQUE - La Marque police are investigating the discovery this morning of a wrecked pickup truck containing the bodies of a young couple.

Investigators say a motorist saw the skid marks leading to the truck in a ditch on FM-1762 near the Greyhound Race Park near the Gulf Freeway. It had apparently rolled over and landed upright in a field near an old dump truck.

Police found the man and woman dead near the truck when they arrived and said there were beer cans and other contents of the truck scattered on the ground around it.

An autopsy will determine if the driver had been drinking.

The victims identities are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
