GALVESTON - The countdown is over, persons with muncipal court warrants in Galveston will be arrested today if police find them.  A task force of Galveston police officers has your name and address and they are looking for you today.  According to officials, anyone with an outstanding citation will be arrested.

More than 250 law enforcement agencies across the state are participating in the roundup, which is believed to be the largest of its kind.

The warrant roundup is designed to target those with outstanding warrants for minor and major infractions such as traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charges.

The roundup lasts through March 20 and police say they'll come to your home or work, both day and night, to arrest you and bring you to jail.

The Galveston Police Department sent out flyers to local businesses advising employees of the warrant roundup and urging them to take care of their outstanding warrants or face the embarrassment of being arrested at work, in class, at home or wherever police find them.

A task force of officers headed by Lt.Henry Porretto and Sgt. James Stewart begin today, tracking down persons who have unpaid fines on file in the city municipal court.

Porretto has made the flyer available to Police News readers to print and take with them to the municipal court.  Court employees will negotiate payment arrangements with those presenting the flyer.

The Galveston Municipal Court is located at 601 54th Street.  For information, call 409-765-3609
